This 2-hour, online, self-paced new faculty orientation session provides the opportunity for new faculty to gain the knowledge and skills  necessary to be prepared to teach at the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs at Saint Mary’s University. Information Session and Guest Speaker Tickets/Registration

Join us for an information session on gut health with guest speaker, Kaitlin Bruun, at our Rochester campus.

Kaitlin will discuss the importance of gut health, signs of an unhealthy gut, what affects our gut health, how to promote better gut health, possible diseases/conditions related to an unhealthy digestive system, why detoxes/cleanses don’t work, and her top 10 gut health tips.

Kaitlin is a registered and licensed dietitian with Hy-Vee in Rochester, Minn. She studied at North Dakota State University and completed a rigorous dietetic internship through the University of Nevada, Reno. She is happy to be back in her home state of Minnesota, and is passionate about nutrition and helping others live an easier, happier, and healthier life.

Character Education and Virtue Formation Speaker Series: The Idea of the Catholic University Tickets/Registration

Dr. James Arthur, the director of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and Dr. Kristján Kristjánsson, deputy director, will address our entire community and speak to a variety of small and large groups Nov. 4-6 at all three Saint Mary’s campuses.

At 3:30 p.m., James Arthur, Ph.D., will present “The Idea of the Catholic University” on the upper floor of the University Center on the Twin Cities Campus. All Saint Mary’s faculty and staff, as well as SGPP students, are invited.

Dr. Arthur, also chair of the Society for Educational Studies, was head of the School of Education from 2010-2015 and deputy pro-vice chancellor from 2015-2019. He was previously editor of the British Journal of Educational Studies for 10 years and holds numerous honorary titles in the academe, including honorary professor of the University of Glasgow and honorary research fellow in the University of Oxford. Dr. Arthur was made an Officer of the British Empire by the queen in 2018. He has written widely on the relationship between theory and practice in education, particularly the links between character, virtues, citizenship, religion, and education. He established the Jubilee Centre in 2012; the Centre has grown in size, scope, and impact since its launch at the House of Lords in May 2012.
